Emily Ast, Esq.

Mrs. Ast specializes in contract negotiations for employment and industry arrangements in the medical field. Her expertise focuses on all medical fields, with a sub-specialty in surgical fields. She is passionate about truly understanding the legal and business aspects of a physician’s career progression and opportunities. With both her husband and other family members as orthopaedic surgeons, she has first-hand knowledge of all phases of a physician’s career, from training, different employment models, navigating industry consulting and more.

Mrs. Ast received a B.A., summa cum laude, from University of Pennsylvania and a J.D., magna cum laude, from University of Pennsylvania School of Law. She began practicing law at the New York-based law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher, LLP and then as in-house legal counsel for Invesco Ltd., a global asset manager, where she specialized in legal disclosure.

Mrs. Ast serves as the President of the University of Pennsylvania’s Association of Alumnae, Penn’s alumni organization for those identifying as women. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Physician Advancement and the University of Pennsylvania Varsity Gymnastics Team. While at Penn, Mrs. Ast was MVP of Varsity Gymnastics, Academic All-Ivy and Academic All American, received the award for the outstanding female scholar-athlete in her graduating class and a member of Friars Honor Society. She lives in New York with her husband, two sons and labradoodle, and enjoys skiing and traveling.

Mrs. Ast has assisted me with multiple types of industry consulting contracts for companies large and small and including a start-up. Her guidance and handling of the negotiations has helped greatly with this aspect of my career.
